Three DOC people from Abruzzi for Tullum

12 June 2009
To introduce a wine which is 100% from the territory, Tullum has chosen three special testimonials: Giulio Borrelli, Alda D' Eusanio and Adua Villa.

CPRESS CONFERENCE- FRIDAY,12 JUNE ,11.00 a.m. PESCARA

A doc that unites the territory.
Tullum will be introduced to the press on June 12, in Pescara at the former Aurum building.

The name of origin doc Tullum aims at enhancing the peculiarity of a specific territory that is the village of Tollo and means that Abruzzo wines are not only Montepulciano and Trebbiano doc. Tullum doc wine will have two merits.

It has been able to unite the territory of Tollo, divided for decades by politics and today in peace thanks to the wine.

Tullum will also bring back to their native region some famous people from Abruzzo “Abruzzesi doc” that will be the testimonials of this project: the journalist Giulio Borrelli, from Atessa, a village not far from Tollo, who is the director of the RAI office in New York, Alda D' Eusanio, a journalist from RAI, born in Tollo and Adua Villa, a well known sommelier from Avezzano, a town in Abruzzo.

The Tullum wines and the project aimed at enhancing Abruzzo's wine production will be introduced by the oenologist Riccardo Brighigna and by Andrea di Fabio, the director of Feudo Antico, the company in charge of Tullum wines sale all over Italy.

" The idea of asking for the doc award for Tullum wines was born some years ago." - Says Andrea di Fabio - historical reasons and its unique territory give Tollo wines a strong personality. The climate and the soil make the various wine producing areas different from each other and this is the reason why doc Tullum differentiates the type of wines according to their place of production where they are registered on the cadastre maps. It has been hard work, but today we are proud to introduce our first wines: Tullum Bianco, Tullum Passerina, Tullum Pecorino.”

" The doc Tullum will cover 300 potential hectares and for the first year there will be a production of 66,000 bottles doc Tullum; white, Pecorino and Passerina.

The types of wines will be six, four white wines : Tullum Bianco, Tullum Superiore, Pecorino and Passerina and two red wines. Tullum Rosso and Tullum Rosso Riserva. Tullum Bianco, Tullum Passerina and Tullum Pecorino are already available for sale, Tullum Superiore, Tullum Rosso and Tullum Riserva will be available by 2010."
